What to expect from therapy?

Tanya offers a space where clients can explore their challenges and learn practical tools. She equips them with methods they can use independently, offering a fishing rod rather than just a fish, so they can make progress during their time beyond therapy sessions.

"Truly shifted my perspective on so many things..."

"I save my therapy sessions for later because I already feel better."

"I'm starting to lose my fear of what the future holds..."

FAQs

Discover answers to common questions about therapy and what you can expect from our services.

Getting Started with Therapy
Do I really need therapy, or can I handle this on my own?

It’s natural to want to solve problems yourself, but therapy can give you new tools and insights. You might consider therapy if the problem has lasted for weeks or is worsening, is affecting your daily life, feels too complex, or if you want a safe, private space to talk.

What if therapy makes me feel worse instead of better?

Therapy can feel tough at first, especially when dealing with painful memories. This is normal. If you keep feeling worse, talk to your therapist—they can adjust the approach or help set different goals.

Isn’t therapy just for people with serious mental health issues?

No, therapy is for everyone! It can help with understanding yourself, managing stress, improving relationships, or just personal growth. It’s not just for severe problems.

What if I don’t know what to talk about in therapy?

It’s normal to feel unsure. Your therapist will help guide the conversation and ask questions to uncover what matters to you.

How do I know if a therapist is right for me?

Find a therapist who’s licensed and experienced with your concerns. Make sure their style fits with what feels comfortable for you. It’s okay to try different therapists until you find the right match. Consider things like availability, location, and insurance too. The initial consultation is a good chance to see if they feel like the right fit.

What is a clinical counsellor?

A clinical counsellor is a licensed professional trained to help individuals address mental and emotional challenges through talk therapy. Depending on your region, the term might be similar to a psychologist or therapist.

Practical Information

What languages do you offer sessions in?

I can communicate in English, Russian, and Hebrew.

Do you do direct billing with insurance companies?

I don't offer direct billing. Clients pay for sessions and can submit receipts to their insurance providers for reimbursement.

Who is your typical client?

Adults aged 19 and older.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies. Many clients notice improvement after about five sessions, but it can be sooner for specific issues.

Can I book a session for my relative, friend?

Counselling is most effective when the individual is motivated to seek help. It’s best if they reach out and book their own sessions.

Do I need to prepare anything for my appointment?

No preparation is necessary. Just bring yourself as you are.

Can you prescribe medication or diagnose me?

No. I do not prescribe medication or provide diagnoses. For those, please consult your family doctor.
